ASSESSMENT

Assessment is an important component of a quality early childhood program. Not only is it an integral tool in understanding and supporting children’s development, it is also essential for documenting and evaluating our program’s effectiveness. Throughout the school year we will focus on progressing toward mastery of key concepts and developmental goals.

Parents of pre-kindergarten students will receive an evaluation of their child’s progress toward kindergarten readiness skills twice a year. The first will be a presented at parent conferences in November and the second in May. This final assessment will be vital in the kindergarten placement process for your child and will be shared each spring when school systems request feedback on incoming students.

Parents of preschool students will have the opportunity to formally meet with teachers to discuss student progress in May. A kindergarten readiness skills assessment will be completed for the May conferences and will serve as a baseline for the child’s pre-kindergarten year a Tender Years.

Conferences can be scheduled outside the regular time frame should either the teachers or parents have concerns regarding a child’s developmental skills.
